FAQ's:
What is conservation framing?
Conservation framing means that we use archival materials to keep your artwork from fading, or deteriorating during the course of time.
Why should I bother with conservation framing?
Even if you are only framing a project for your home, many factors can contribule to fading, damage or deterioration of your work. Our framing process protects against acid migration, moisture, ultra-violet light rays, temperature, insects and physical damage.
What materials are considered to be archival?
The materials we use to frame your artwork are made to protect the work, from acid-free mats and foam core to UV-blocking glass.
Aside from conservation framing, what can I do to prevent my artwork from degrading?
Even though our framing will prevent your artwork from degradation, you also should keep your work away from heat, humidity and sunlight. Avoid hanging your piece near a heat source, like a fireplace or radiator. And also avoid outside walls where humidity and temperature fluctuates most, especially in a New England climate. Also, do not spray glass cleaner directly on the glass. Use a duster when necessary, and if a cleaner is absolutely necessary, spray onto a microfiber cloth or soft towel, never directly on the glass.
